Two senior athletes from the Luxembourg Judo Federation delivered outstanding performances at the 2025 African Open in Yaoundé (Cameroon) and Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), winning 4 medals in 10 days. Both are athletes of the Elite Sports Section of the Luxembourg Army.

African Open – Yaoundé 🇨🇲 23.11.2025

• Claudio Nunes Dos Santos (-81 kg, Judo & Jiu-Jitsu Club Differdange) won gold, his first Continental Open title, a historic achievement for Luxembourg.

• Carla Tavares Fernandes (-52 kg, Judo Club Beaufort-Echternach) claimed bronze, her first medal at a Continental Open.

Luxembourg finished 5th in the team ranking among 20 nations.

African Open – Abidjan 🇨🇮 30.11.2025

• Claudio Nunes Dos Santos added a silver medal.

• Carla Tavares Fernandes earned bronze again, confirming her international progress.
